About Lawrence Huppert

Born in Red Wing, Minnesota and raised in the scenic college town River Falls, Wisconsin, Lawrence Huppert is a music teacher and classical guitar soloist residing in McAllen, Texas. After earning Baccalaureate and Master of Music degrees from the University of Wisconsin River Falls and Southern Methodist University, he began work in music education and performance in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. He has been a member of the music faculty at Tarrant County College and Navarro College with duties including instruction in guitar and general music. Previously, he taught at Trinity Valley Community College and Kilgore College.

Huppert performs as a professional classical guitarist in recital for the public and in private circles. His repertoire encompasses music from the 16th through 20th centuries. Regarded as a strongly intuitive musician, his playing also reflects a systematic study of performance practices of the major style periods in classical music. He plays a guitar built in 1985 by Stephen Kakos.

With a passion for the road, Huppert has traveled much of the North American continent from the Grand Canyon to Alaska's North Slope tundra and Arctic coast. For leisure, he enjoys literature and gourmet cooking. His reading focuses on history, biography, and nature. He prefers Mexican cuisine and traditional Texas barbecue.
